Experiential Archaeology: Living the Past
Participants will be housed in a small traditional village not far from the city of Odorheiu Secuiesc, in the heart of beautiful Transylvania. Voluteers will either be guests of Romanian families or will stay in a village house.
Everyone will be housed in 2-4 occupancy rooms in the village houses. Toilet and bathrooms will be rural and traditional. You will have a chance to discover the true sense of old fashion Transylvanian hospitality. You will experience some of the nicest aspects of Eastern European country life, indulging in traditional meals and a variety of home made traditional beverages. The housing conditions are very safe. There are several fully equipped hospitals and stores near by.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served during the work week. Breakfast and dinner will served in the village itself. We will have lunch at the workshop site. Romanian cuisinr is meat based and as a result we can't address any specific or particular dietary requirements.
$1985 for 4 weeks - maximum 20 patricipants
The fee is for the full 4 (four) week duration of the workshop. It includes a $385 non refundable registration fees, room and board as described above. No refund will be considered after March 16, 2013.
The fees also include all the raw material, gear and workshop manual. All participants are required to bring their own protection gloves, glasses and face mask.
The registration cost does not include the trip to and from Romania. If you arrive at the pre-established times, someone will wait for you at the train station. Participants must arrange their own travel and health insurance. Participants are responsible for their own lunches.
No entry visa is generally required for Romania for up to 12 weeks for EU, US and Canadian citizens. It is always a good idea to check with the Romanian Consulate.
